Is There a Ghost in Your Closet?
By Stefan Funkabunt

Most people can say they have a skeleton in their closet. How many can say they have a ghost in their closet? I can. There's a ghost residing in my closet.

How this ghost came to live in my closet, I have no idea. I had recently bought the house and the previous owner made no mention of any spooky activities. Yet the ghost was discovered late one night. It was a rather frightening experince and my life has never been the same. The first time I saw this ghost scared me so much that I was such I would die with fright at that very moment.

Well, as it turns out I didn't die of fright. The fact that I'm alive to write this is evidence that I am indeed still alive. Contrary to popular belief, ghosts are not able to use a computer keyboard and type. Their ghostly fingers hit the wrong keys and they make far too many typos. But back to my story....

It was late at night, and I had just come home from another of my mountain trips. I was tired and exhausted, just wanting to take a cool shower and have something to eat before calling it a night. After I put my gear away, I went into my bedroom. It really helps to remove clothes before showering, so I took off my clothes and stepped into the shower. As I showered, I thought I caught a glimpse of movement in my bedroom through the wet shower door. My heart skipped a few beats. I saw more movement. This was getting scary. I live alone and there was no one visiting me.

I quickly rinsed my now shaking body and stepped out of the shower, drying off. I walked into out of my bathroom back into my bedroom slowly, muttering under my breath that I wished I had taken some underwear with me into the bathroom when I showered. I looked around slowly, my body shaking all the more now, because I was cold and naked and from fear that someone was in my house. Seeing no movement, I made my way to the other side of the bedroom to my chest and opened a drawer, pulling out some underwear and shorts to put on. Frantically, my mind raced, trying to think of something I had in the bedroom that I could use a weapon against whoever was in the house. I had absolutely nothing!

Just as I came to this realization, I heard something in my closet. I froze. He's in my closet! Slowly and quietly, I walked to the closet door. If I opened the door, what or who was I going to see in there? And more importantly, what would they do to me? It crossed my mind to run of the house and get help. But did I do that? No I didn't. I stood in front of the closet door, carefully taking the knob in my hand, and turning it slowly. Then I jerked the door open, hoping to surprise my intruder. My eyes could not believe what I was looking at!

Standing in my huge closet in the midst of my clothes and boxes of al sorts of things was this female ghost, dressed in a flowing pink dress that did little to hide her ghostly form. Her hair was flowing outward in all directions, as if she had placed her ghostly finger into an electrical outlet and gave herself a ghoulish buzz. She was almost invisible, but as my mortified body looked at her, I could see her begin to smile. Then her form began to move toward and I panicked. As if that was not enough, I was so mortified from this paranormal experience that I could not move. I was frozen with fear!

By now the ghost was fully in front of me. I tried to speak but my mouth wouldn't cooperate. Finally, I was able to sputter out words, asking her what she wanted of me. The sheer horror of her confession was horrific!

The ghost confessed to me that when she was alive, her name had been Angelina. She had died a tragic death at the hands of wild indians who had invaded her land, the very spot that my house was on! I listened as she spoke of how she had wandered the area of the closet for over 200 years, never daring to allow herself to be seen or heard by anyone. But after all those years of wanderings, she said she wanted to be noticed, tired of being all dressed up in such a pink outfit with no place to go.

Who would have thought that ghosts had such feelings? I never did, but I have been enlightened by Angelina. Many nights I look for her, determined to chase her from my closet. And chase her I do, sometimes catching her, but that's another story. Try as I might to keep her from living in my closet, she always returns there, haunting me.

It's been three years since I first met the ghost of Angelina. Recently, on one of my many chases to catch her, she told me something that scared me more that anything. She told me she is expecting a little ghost. I was dumbfounded! I asked her how that could be possible and who the father was. All she did was look at me, as if I was supposed to know these answers.

So here I am, not sure what's going to happen in my closet now. The next time I wake up, I might be hearing the sound of ghostly footsteps running up my back, screaming YOU DID THIS TO ME!
